Dear Families, Friends, and Fellow Visionaries,
Welcome to the Aya Renaissance School — where education meets purpose, creativity meets culture, and every child is seen, heard, and celebrated.
My name is Jeanetta Powell, and it is my deep honor to serve as the Founder and Director of Aya Renaissance. This school is more than a place of learning — it’s a movement. A sanctuary. A reimagining of what school can be when we center our children, our heritage, and our collective brilliance.
Aya is the Adinkra symbol of endurance and resourcefulness — and those qualities live at the heart of everything we do. We believe that education should nurture the whole child, fuel their imagination, honor their story, and equip them to thrive in a world that needs their light.

We opened our doors with a simple but bold mission: to cultivate joyful learning rooted in culture, critical thinking, and creative expression. Here, your child will not only master academic skills — they will know who they are, where they come from, and where they’re capable of going. We build with books, with music, with movement, with love. We build for the future.
Our curriculum is Afrocentric, interdisciplinary, and alive. Our classrooms are led by passionate educators who believe in liberation through learning. And our community is full of people just like you — families who want more than the status quo, who want a school that feels like home.
Whether your child is joining us in-person or online, for the full-day program or enrichment classes, I want you to know: you belong here. Your child belongs here. Aya was created with your family in mind.
As we begin this beautiful journey, I invite you to walk with us. Attend our events. Ask questions. Share your ideas. This is a school that listens, learns, and grows — together.
With deep joy and unwavering belief in our children,
Jeanetta Powell
